It is a Seek Wrap to Improve the Sense of Luxury

Probably you have never paid attention to the sleek, shiny, reflective film packaging that is sealed on the two ends of your perfume box, where the film is tucked and folded into a diamond-shaped sealing pattern. The packaging is called the overwrap or overwrapping, and is sometimes referred to as tuck-and-fold wrapping or gift wrapping.

Overwrapping is a versatile secondary packaging the essence of which is usually overlooked. While overwrapping may seem like an unnecessary step in the packaging process, it serves several important purposes including protection from contamination, preservation and tamper-evidence, as especially to improve the sense of superiority and luxury.

A study by P&G once found that 64% of women purchased a beauty product based on its packaging alone and the factor that plays a key role here is the overwrapping.

It is Going to be a Sustainable Wrap

Overwrapping is such a packaging that would inevitably involve the utilization of plastics. The past trait of overwrapping engages the use of plastic materials such as polypropylene (BOPP) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). While the former is reusable yet not biodegradable, the latter is toxic when being shrunk by heat – which is the sealing method used for overwrapping.

The latest alternative to these non-environmentally-friendly materials is turning to those biodegradable ones or simple switching from plastics to paper packaging. One of the options is Biodegradable Biaxially Oriented Poly Lactic Acid film (BOPLA). BOPLA is typically made from a renewable and biodegradable polymer called polylactic acid (PLA). PLA is derived from corn starch, sugarcane, or other natural sources and is considered an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics because it breaks down naturally in the environment. According to Marden Edwards, BOPLA is an ideal biodegradable and eco-friendly materials to serve as the sustainable film for wrapping cartons considering the large volume of consumption in the beauty products market.

Sustainable packaging for beauty products can also improve brand recognition and to build positive brand image now that more people are becoming aware of the impact of packaging on the environment, they are increasingly looking for sustainable options. Using sustainable packaging shows that a business is environmentally conscious and can help build trust with customers who share these values.

It is an Automated Wrap for your Beauty Products

According to ELITER Packaging Machinery – a secondary packaging machine manufacturer, an overwrapping machine is an automated packaging system that is capable to complete the process of tuck and fold, with capability of sealing the folded ends by heat and is a flexible manufacturing automation that is with programmable logic controller, temperature controlling devices, and various electricals to automate the overwrapping packaging for various beauty and cosmetics products.
