Look after your health and wellbeing

One of the best ways to tell your body that you care about it is by investing in your health. Most of us put our bodies through a lot of stress with unhealthy eating and overworking, but it’s important to be kind to your body and be thankful for everything that it can do.

Learn to say no

While it can be good to get out of your comfort zone, if you’re always putting other people’s feelings before your own, you’ll soon start to feel resentful and stressed out. The next time someone asks you to run to the shops for them or go on a night out when you have work the next day, try turning them down. Chances are, if they’re really your friend, they’ll understand and nothing bad will happen.

Accept mistakes as a part of life

It’s impossible to go through life without making some mistakes, so why do we react so badly when we mess up? Mistakes show that you’re trying new things and learning, so make sure you remember that it’s OK to try and try again the next time you start a new job or try a different hobby. If you find yourself beating yourself up over the mistakes you make, think about what you would say to a friend in the same position. You’d probably reassure them that they will get better over time, so do the same for yourself.

Constantly being on the go will eventually tire you out, no matter what you’re doing. Whether you’ve been working long hours at the office, looking after a sick relative or trying to start your own business, you need to find some time to unwind. Even spending a few hours in the evening curled up with a book or in front of the TV can help you to switch off from the day’s stresses.

Stop comparing yourself to others

Everyone is on their own journey in life and comparing your own achievements to other people’s is a useless exercise. Stop feeling disheartened when you realise you’re behind some of your peers or don’t have as much good fortune as them. Instead, focus on being better than the person you were yesterday.
