The use of lasers are modern ways of engraving metal as they offer a higher degree of accuracy. Laser engraving involves the use of high laser beam temperature to vaporize or melt the surface of your chosen metallic material leaving a noticeable and touchable cavity or impression.   • Calibrate your laser.

Regardless of the material, you want to test and calibrate your machine with different cutting speeds, cut depth, line thickness, and laser intensity. This way, you'll avoid unnecessary error and waste of material 

  • Smoke stain 

While this is more common with wood, engraving with laser is generally a heat and smoke-generating process irrespective of the material, making the smoke stain a common source of error. To avoid this error, use masking tape to cover the surface of your metal. Don't worry, lasers will cut through the tape just fine and get a cleaner product devoid of smoke dust.
