My Stay At The Georgian Mansion Mercure Haydock Hotel

Cue playing the song Penny Lane, whilst whizzing down the motorway at high speed with the sun in your eyes. Simply perfect and dreamy. To be followed by an exciting refurbished hotel launch - serious career love occurring. I checked into the Mercure Haydock Hotel in St Helens in Liverpool for a night of entertainment, mingling and celebrating the modernisation of the gorgeous Georgian Mansion. It's a wedding venue to behold, so bespoke and unique in it's design combining contemporary with grand fixtures. I fell head over heels with the hotel, aesthetically pleasing in every way and in a tucked away spot of town to relax.

Our night included getting our party on, trying out incredible food from their varied menus. Serving everything from Singapore noodles to Cottage pie - because why not? They're a hotel with a difference. I spent the night being baffled by magicians putting my card in a block of ice, taking slight of hand to a new level of extremity, and stilt wearing LED robots. Bonkers, but I love it! It's Liverpool, did you expect anything less than fantastic?

Channeling their new design to incorporate wall to wall horse racing prints to go hand in hand with Haydock Parks racecourse making it the ideal location for heading off to the races. Their permanent wedding marquee fixture is sparkling 24/7 and overwhelmingly large, I can foresee so many elaborate parties being held there already. With surrounding gardens and patio for taking lunch in the sun.

Tray Service All Day Every Day

Speaking of food, because me and Patrick and terrible for being peckish around midnight, we ordered some drinks and sandwiches up to our room, greeted with a smile at an ungodly hour - we're so cheeky for testing the staff. Their in-room dinner service is a delight, I highly do recommend indulging in a G&T, with a salmon and creme fraiche sandwich, and side of rocket and crisps,  in bed whilst watching You've Been Framed. One of lives greatest pleasures in a nutshell.

We decided for a breakfast in bed (we really are becoming John & Yoko!) to be surprised with an incredible feast served with a fresh rose - a beautiful touch to our glorious morning, complete breakfast goals. I couldn't help reflect why every morning of mine should start off with a tomato juice, eggs Benedict and mushrooms. So I'll no doubt be heading back for weekend breaks and switch off from the world. Mercure Haydock is a beautiful hotel for long distance trips or if you fancy a switch up of your normal weekend break.
